Goal #38: Try 30 new recipes (8, 9, 10, & 11/30)
8/30 - Penne with pumpkin and sausage
Apparently all of the food in my pantry is expired and that is exactly
what this dish tasted like. Expired penne pasta with feezer-burned Italian
sausage in an expired pumpkin sauce, sprinkled with expired parmesan cheese. I
got the recipe off of the pasta box, which was probably my first mistake.
Gross.
9/30 - Crockpot stuffing a la Shauna
We had 15 people over for Thanksgiving this year and needed to figure
out how to make enough stuffing for all of them. Enter wonderful neighbor
Shauna, who gave me this recipe for crockpot stuffing. I combined it with
another recipe I had used before (the kind with sausage and cranberry and apple)
and voila- a tasty stuffing with enough leftovers for a whole extra turkey.
Unfortunately, I was too sick to eat more than a couple of bites (delicious,
flavorful bites) or to actually make the stuffing myself. This recipe was made
proxy by Mom. Thanks Mom.
10/30 - Spinach and Cheese Strata
For my birthday Joey helped me host a quiet birthday brunch, which was
an excuse for me to try a few new breakfast recipes. I love quiche, but I
wanted to try something different, so this strata looked good. And it was
pretty good except that there was more than a hint of some flavor that I
haven't been able to put my finger on. The mustard? Nutmeg? I'm not sure. But I
am sure that I like strata.
11/30 - Kneaders Cinnamon French Toast
I may be the last person in Utah who has ever tried re-creating
Kneaders cinnamon french toast. It is delicious as can be, easy to make, and a
great dish for preparing ahead of time. Also, after two bites you're full.
