Goal #38: Try 30 new recipes (12 & 13/30)
12/30 - Sunrise Skillet
I am even less excited to write about a recipe than I am to write about
a restaurant. It's not my thing. Favorite neighbor Shauna (of many favorite
neighbors!) gave me a Six Sisters recipe book for Christmas and since the only
other recipe book I own is a Betty Crocker book from the 70s I was excited to
page through and see what looked good. The Sunrise Skillet was the first recipe
that Joey and I agreed on and he is actually responsible for making this one
since he got to use his cast iron skillet that we found at a thrift store on
the northern California coast. Or was it Oregon? It was your average breakfast
skillet, with egg, potato, bacon, and cheese. Nothing spectacular but Joey was
pretty thrilled about it.
13/30 - Sweet Pork Quesadilla
Another recipe from the same cookbook. It was easy and tasty and I've
been adding sweet pork to my salads ever since. LOTS of leftovers, and with all the brown sugar and Dr. Pepper in the recipe, it keeps even longer.
