Goal #1: Try 10 New Restaurants (9 & 10/10)



9/10 - Cubby's in Provo

We dropped the girls off at Grandma and Grandpa's house and needed to find a restaurant not too far away, so we chose Cubby's in Provo. And we didn't regret it. I'm always on the hunt for delicious sweet potato fries and Cubby's delivered. No the very best, but almost. Joey and I agree Cubby's is worth going back to again, just not for their mediocre chocolate shakes.

10/10 - Lola's Street Kitchen in Heber

We happened upon this street truck in the parking lot at Lee's in Heber while running errands after doing some indoor climbing. I'm not really sure how street trucks like this work except that I haven't seen it in the same place twice. Our meals were both delicious, organic, and locally grown, not that I'm particularly concerned about such things. We're looking forward to our next meal from Lola's.

There are a few things in life I can always count on- chocolate chips, summer, and Downton Abbey , to name a few.   At the bittersweet conclusion of the Masterpiece series Maggie Smith's character reflects: "It makes me smile the way every year we drink to the new year, whatever it may bring." I appreciate her optimism, if not her passive assertion that the future just kind of happens to us. #47: Pay off Camry loan

My favorite birthday gift this year was paying off the last extra bit of loan for our Camry. We are back down to one car payment. Hooray! Joey was certain that the day we paid it off it would break down in the canyon. Hasn't happened yet! We intend to drive that car into the ground. And if it lasts another 12 years Sadie will be able to drive it. There's a fun thought.

We were in love with Sadie from the get-go; though to be honest, for the first few weeks I felt like I was babysitting, keeping Sadie's birth mom, Sarah (not her real name) updated with texts and photos every few days. Those were rough exchanges, I'm sure for both of us. Joey and I held our breath during the seven months leading up to finalization in court and Sadie's sealing to us in the temple, especially as more than one well-meaning? individual told us stories about couples they knew who had adopted only to have the birth mother or father change their mind and take the child back. "You never know!" They would say. "But I do hope that doesn't happen with you." Please never, ever tell these stories to adopting couples until after things have settled.
