Goal #33: Online or continuing education class

My  intention with this goal was to learn/improve upon a new skill and I think singing in the General Women's Conference choir fits the bill. I've never sung in a real choir- at least not one conducted by a professional- and this experience was an intense, enriching education. Dr. Jane Fjeldsted, director and vocal instructor extraordinaire, taught me how to form vowels, emphasize certain sounds, articulate, sing intentionally, and how to be part of a choir. I can't read notes so I always struggle with new pieces, and I spent hours and hours practicing these songs. I practiced while the girls were with the babysitter and on my morning runs and late at night. You may have even seen me singing along with the recorded instruction while driving through Provo Canyon on my way to work. Singing in this 380-woman choir was harder than I imagined it would be, but it was SO rewarding.
