I miss living in San Diego and my pride will probably never let me feel otherwise. But for all the hard time I give Joey for keeping me in Utah, I will say that I love living in a state with such a diversity of recreational opportunities. For example, one day I might hit the slopes and have an awesome day of skiing with my girlfriends and sipping hot chocolate by the fire, and the next day I could be hiking through slot canyons and red rock in a t-shirt.
During my graduate program in Youth and Family Recreation I read a book called
The Power of Play, which talks about combining the three innate human drives of work, play, and love to create some of our most happy and fulfilling experiences. Perhaps this explains why I am often my happiest self when I am in Southern Utah. You see, my experiences in the various national parks and recreation destinations have allowed me to combine each of those innate dispositions in such a way as to achieve a real sense of enjoyment, fulfillment, and bliss.
The following is what Southern Utah means to me:

Loved all the pictures. I'm envious of all your Southern Utah exploits. Have you ever hiked the area where that guy got his hand stuck and ended up self-amputating? Just curious.
