Goal #31: Read 3 non-academic books (1/3)

1/3 - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams

I'm slightly ashamed at what a big deal this was. As a teen I spent my summers reading from sunup to sundown, but in the last 12 months I had read zero books. I found this book listed on the top 100 books to read in a lifetime (http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/69635.100_Books_to_Read_in_a_Lifetime_Readers_Picks ) so I thought I'd give it a try. It was exactly what I needed it to be- a quick read, entertaining, British, and different from my normal literary fare. It wasn't particularly thought provoking, but the fact that I was able to sit down and read, instead of automatically turning on Netflix, while the girls played  or slept was quite inspirational. Maybe I can still have a life outside of Puffin Rock, stacking blocks, and Downton Abbey.
