Goal #50: Attend 5 non-religious community events (1 & 2/5)
1/5 - Wasatch County Fair Days carnival and parade
Apparently the Wasatch County Fair Days
in Heber are like Christmas to anyone who grew up here. Unfortunately I didn't
realize this until after the fact and so probably didn't appreciate the
experience as much as I could have. Joey and I took the girls to the fair and
had fun walking around. By the time I decided I wanted to take Sadie on the
carousel the ticket line was a hundred minutes long, so we settled for a picture
instead.
This was also the weekend of the Kamas
trip with favorite-neighbor-of-the-weekend Shauna, who kindly invited us to sit
with her at the parade. It was a fun, small-town parade and once Sadie realized
it was candy the parade participants kept throwing out she was thrilled. So
much candy!
2/5 - Snowbird Oktoberfest
If you've read everything to this point
you know that we spent our anniversary up at Snowbird, sans babies. We didn't
even know Oktoberfest was happening (and why would it- it was the middle of
August) but we were there just in time for opening day. Snowbird's
Oktoberfest is ranked among the top 10 Oktoberfests in the country, by whom I
can't remember, but it was awesome. Lederhosen, polka music, and tasty brats made
for a splendid end to our anniversary trip. Also, it reminded me of my time in
Germany as an exchange student, so that was pretty sweet.
