Goal #31: Read 3 Non-Academic Books (2/3)
Funny in Farsi: A Memoir of Growing Up Iranian in America
This quick read was just as the title
suggests: the memoir of a sweet and witty Iranian woman who grew up in America.
I actually received this book as a white elephant gift at a family
Christmas party a year or two ago and I held on to it because it sounded like it
had some potential. I'm glad I kept it, though it certainly hasn't been
life-changing. It was reminiscent of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I started
reading it during the first leg of my journey across the pond and finished it
within a few hours. So if you ever find yourself at the Chicago airport,
waiting for your Aer Lingus flight to the UK, it may still be sitting on the
windowsill where I left it.
